Abstract
Level-based teaching accords with the requirements of college English teaching reform and meets the needs ofteachingstudents in accordance with their aptitude. Based on the theories of pedagogy and linguistics together with the present situation ofthe application of level-based teaching to college English in the author's university, this paper analyses the strengths as well asweaknesses of level-based teaching and aims to promote the quality of college English teaching as well as learners' English learn-ing.
