Investigation on the Prevalence of Hypertension and Influencing Factors among Residents in Weidu District of Xuchang City in 2005

[Objective]To understand the prevalence of hypertension and the influencing factors among residents in Weidu district,Xuchang city,Provide scientific basis for making prevention and control strategies.[Methods]Analysis of the prevalence and influencing factors of hypertension was conducted based on investigation data of the nutritional status and health condition among residents in Weidu district of Xuchang city in 2005.[Results]Of the 4 870 residents aged over 15,1 066 of them were reported to have hypertension,the morbidity rate was 21.9%.Standardized morbidity rate was 12.00%.Of them,male accounted for 12.10% while female accounted for 12.30%.The morbidity rate increased along with the increase of the age(P0.01).Unconditioned Logistic regression analysis suggested that the main affecting factors were age,body weight index and family history.OR value was 2.334、1.594 and 1.469 respectively.[Conclusion]The morbidity of hypertension was high among the residents in Xuchang.The main risk factors were age,family history and obesity.
