Abstract
Objective To investigate the prevalence and risk factors of hypertension of community residents in Ba'nan district of Chongqing city,in order to provide evidence for the implementation of community based comprehensive prevention and control of hypertension. Methods A cluster random sampling method was adopted to investigate the prevalence of hypertension and its main risk factors among residents aged over 18 in Ba'nan district. Results A total of 3 900 residents were investigated, among whom there were 615 cases(15.77%) of hypertension.Univariate analysis showed that age, occupation, education level, marital status, family history of hypertension, alcohol consumption, waist circumference,BMI value, physical exercise were significant variables.Logistic regression analysis showed that age, education level, family history, marital status, alcohol consumption, physical exercise, obesity were factors related to hypertension in adults of Ba'nan district(OR = 1.270,0.864,1.071,1.181,1.052,0.914,1.844).Conclusion The prevalence of hypertension among Ba'nan district residents aged over 18 is in the medium level.Age,family history, alcohol consumption and obesity are its risk factors, and education level, physical exercise are its protective factors.Health education should be strengthened and community standardized management of hypertension should be actively carried out,in order to control the prevalence and harm of hypertension.
