Logistic regression analysis on risk factors of hypertension among rural population in Shangqiu area

Objective: To investigate the risk factors of hypertension among rural population of Shangqiu area.Methods: Aged 18 and over rural people in two countries were randomly cluster sampled and investigated by questionnaire and medical examination.Results: The standardized prevalence rate was 52.38%.By stepwise regression analysis,The result demonstrated that sex,age,Body Mass Index(BMI),Waist to Hip Ratio(WHR),drinking,the family history of hypertension were risk factors,while education,tea drinking,oil intake,activity and knowing about the related knowledge of hypertension were the protective factors.Conclusion: The propaganda and education of the knowledge about prevention and controlling of hypertension should be strenghed on rural area as well as prevention of diet and behavior risk factors.
