Abstract

In this paper, nine new species of Stenocranus Fieber of Delphacidae are described.The type specimens are deposited in the Nanjing Agricultural College and the AnhuiAgricultural College respectively. Stenocranus nigrocaudatus Ding, sp. nov. (figs. 1--7) Genitalia black, resembling S. ozenumensis Ishihara, but distinguished by the veinsof tegmina fuscous; the black stripes of frons narrower, and their apical half being fus-cous in male; the shape of the frons and the structure of the male genitalia being quitedifferent. Length 3.9 mm, 4.1 mm (exclud. teg.); 5.6 mm, 6.2 mm (includ. teg.);tegmen 4.6 mm, 5.1 mm. Holotype , allotype , paratype 4 8, Sichuan, Ⅶ 19, 1975. Stenocranus linearis Ding, sp. nov. (figs. 8--11) This species is related to S. akashiensis Matsumura, but differs from it in the bodydorsum with two orange-red stripes, the tegmina with a trace of fuscous stripe nearthe hind margin, and the male genitalia being very different. Length 3.0mm (exclud. teg.), 4.3mm (includ. teg.); tegmen 3.2 mm. Holotype , Heilongjiang, 1950. Stenocranus chenzhouensis Ding, sp. nov. (figs. 12--18) Closely allied to S. nigrocaudatus Ding, but vertex and frons narrower; blackstripes of frons broader, veins of tegmina brownish, and genital segment not entirelyblack. Length 3.5 mm, 4.1 mm (exclud. teg.); 5.3 mm, 6.3 mm (includ. teg.);tegmen 4.3 mm, 5.1 mm. Holotype , allotype , paratype 2 2, Hunan, V, 1975. Stenocranus castaneus Ding, sp. nov.(figs. 19--24) Tegmina uniformly brownish-hyaline, rather similar to S. elongatus Matsumura, butbody smaller, frons between carinae not entirely black, pronotum and mesonotum enti-rely brownish. Length 3.5 mm, 3.7 mm (exclud. teg.); 5.0 mm, 5.4mm (includ. teg.);tegmen 4.1 mm, 4.5 mm. Holotype , allotype , paratype 1 , Hunan, Ⅷ, 1973. Stenocranus testaceus Ding, sp. nov.(figs. 25--26) Somewhat similar to S. castaneus Ding in tegminal coloration, but body largerand lighter in color; vertex and frons narrower; body dorsum with a yellowish whitelongitudinal stripe along the median line. Length 3.8 mm (exclud. teg.); 6.1 mm (includ. teg.); tegmen 5.0 mm. Holotype , Hunan, Ⅵ 21, 1977. Stenocranus longicapitis Ding, sp. nov. (figs. 27--32) This species is similar to S. nigrocaudatus Ding in tegmina coloration and to S.harimensis Matsumura in shape of genital styles, but differs from both in the vertexbeing long and narrow, body distinctly smaller, frons parallel-sided at apical half themale genitalia differently shaped. Length 2.9 mm (exclud. teg.); 4.5 mm (includ. teg.); tegmen 3.6 mm. Holotype , paratype 2, Hunan, 1976. Stenocranus magnispinosus Kuoh, sp. nov. (figs. 33--38) Allied to S. yasumatsui Ishihara, but separable from the latter by the tegminalonger and darker, and the male genital organ entirely different. Length 2.6 mm, 2.8 mm (exclud. teg.); 4.2 mm, 4.7 mm (includ. teg.);tegmen 3.4 mm, 3.9 mm. Holotype , allotype , Anhui, Ⅵ, 1978; paratype 1 , Hunan, Ⅸ, 1979. Stenocranus varians Kuoh, sp. nov. (figs. 39--44) This new species differs from all its congeners in the genitalia structure of themale. Length 3.0 mm, 3.4 mm (exclud. teg.); 5.0mm, 5.4mm (includ. teg.);tegmen 4.2 mm, 4.6 mm. Holotype , allotype , paratype 4 4, Yunnan, Ⅵ 7, 1974. Stenocranus rufilinearis Kuoh, sp. nov. (figs. 45--52) This species resembles S. matsumurai Metcalf, but is separated from the latter bythe coloration of the body and by the structure of the male genitalia. Length 3.6 mm, 4.1 mm (exclud. teg.); 5.2 mm, 5.9 mm (includ. teg.);tegmen 4.2 mm, 4.9 mm. Host-plant: Eleocharis tuberosa Raem et Schult., Cyperus rotundus L.
