The clinical effect of plasma exchange in treatment of patients with severe hepatitis

Abstract
Objective To study the clinical effect of plasma exchange in treatment of patients with severe hepatitis. Methods 71 patients with severe hepatitis were divided into the treatment group and the control group,and besides the supporting treatment,37 patients were treated by plasma exchange. The clinical outcomes of the two groups were observed. Results The patients’clinical symptoms after plasma exchange were relieved very much,and their liver and renal function tests and prothromin time improved obviously(P0.01 or P0.05);The survival rates of patients at early stage and at moderate to late stage in PE group were 88% and 58.33%,respectively,which were higher than 47.83% and 36.36% in the control group,respectively(P0.05). Conclusion Plasma exchange is an effective way in treating patients with severe hepatitis,especially in patients at early stage.
