Analysis of risk factors impaired fasting glucose

Objective To investigate the influencing factors of the impaired fasting glucose(IFG).Methods 2517 cases,1807 males and 710 females,aged 24-91 years,mean age of 48.7±10.9 years,who visited medical examination in 2008 were enrolled into this study.Their medical history,height,weight,blood pressure,fasting blood glucose,blood lipids and fasting blood glucose were detected and analyzed statistically.According to fasting blood glucose divided into the normal fasting glucose(NFG) and impaired fasting glucose groups.Results The prevalence of impaired fasting glucose was 26.6%,and the prevalence rate of IFG in males was more than those in females.IFG prevalence rate increased with age.The differences of BMI,SBP,DBP,blood glucose,TG,TC,HDL-C,LDL-C between the normal fasting glucose group and the IFG group were statistically significant(P0.05).Odds ratio for two and over cardiovascular risk factors in IFG group was 2.232 times(P=0.000,95% CI1.852-2.689) versus NFG group.BMI,age,DBP,TG,family history of diabetes entered into the logistic regression model.Conclusion People with IFG show the clustering of cardiovascular risk factors and it is related with overweight and obesity,age,blood pressure,disorders of lipid metabolism and family history of diabetes.
