Abstract
n-Propyl acetate was prepared by esterification of acetic acid with n-propanol catalyzed by solid supported acid Al2O3/SO42-.The effects of the sulfuric acid concentration for catalyst preparation,,feed ratio of 1-propanol to acetic acid, catalyst amount and reaction time on the esterification were investigated. The results showed that the optimum conditions were the sulfuric acid concentration for catalyst preparation 2 mol·L-1,the feed molar ratio of n-propanol to acetic acid 1.3,catalyst loading 1.5 g(relative to 0.2625mol acetic acid) and reaction time 2.0 hours.Under these conditions, the esterification rate was 67%.
