Management of Ancient Books in University Libraries

Being as the most important carrier of Chinese nation's history of culture, the ancient books have important cultural value, academic value and social value. The library of Southwest University for Nationalities reorganizes the ancient books and puts them into ancient stack room connecting its own collection features and adopting the checking way of combining books extracting based on detailed list and books extracting on the site. For improving the utilization ratio of ancient books, this library has taken some measures, such as compiling the catalogue of the ancient books,supporting the discipline construction and talent training,carrying out scientific researches and so on. And in the light of the special characteristics of ancient books, the library needs to targetedly enhance the management of the ancient stack room and the development and utilization of ancient books in order to prolong the retention period of ancient books and enhance the utilization ratio of ancient books.
