Abstract
Due to its significant geo-strategic position, the South China Sea has caught much attention from Japan. In recent years, especially in the wake of the U. S. Back to Asia-PacificStrategy proposed by Obama administration,Japan responds actively to it and decides to get its scheme in the dispute of South China Sea and to drive this issue to become multilateralized, internationalized and complicated. Relying on the U. S.-Japan alliance,Japan tries to construct a united front for containing and besieging China with the help of other extraterritorial powers and the states around the South China Sea. As a result,it will undoubtedly increase the difficulty to deal with the dispute. Through these measures,Japan attempts to achieve its strategic targets of constraining China's development, containing China's rise and enlarging its own influence in East-Asian region. The Japan Factor in the Dispute of South China Sea will exert a considerable influence on the final settlement of the South China Sea issue through bilateral peaceful negotiation between China and the states around the South China Sea.
