A Talk on Qi-Descending Method and its Clinical Application

The theory of ascension and descent in traditional Chinese medicine implies infiniteqi upflow and downflow in the physiological aspects and refers to dysfunction of the Zangfu organs and dispersion of qi and blood in the pathological aspects.In the exploration of the unique qi descending method of MIAO Zhong chun,a medical practitioner of the Ming Dynasty,the author emphasizes that its mechanism is excess in the upper part and deficiency in the lower part,and that therapeutic principle should be supposed to descend qi and benefit yin,for instance,to descend qi and to reinforce the liver,to descend qi and clean the lung,and to descend qi and nourish the stomach.The author also gives the examples of the treatment of reverse flow of lung qi,stomach qi,qallbladder,conception vesselqi,thoroushfare vessel qi and intestine qi,which is beneficial to clinical treatments upon pattern identification.
