Expression of Survivin and COX-2 in human gastric carcinoma and its clinical significance

Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of Survivin and Cyclooxygenis-2(COX-2) and their relationship with the clinical feature of gastric carcinoma.Methods In 97 specimens sampling from tissues of chronic superficial gastritis(n=12),chronic atrophic gastritis(n=15),dyshyperplasia(n=10) and gastric carcinoma(n=60),the expressions of Survivin and COX-2 here were detected by immunohistochemistry.Results Of the 60 cases of gastric carcinoma,45 cases expressed Survivin(75.0%),and 42 cases expressed COX-2(70.0%).The expressions of Survivin and COX-2 in gastric carcinoma were significantly higher than that in gastric precancerous lesion(all P0.05).The expressions of Survivin and COX-2 in gastric carcinoma were associated with lymph node metastasis,infiltration depth and TNM stage(all P0.05).Conclusions The high expressions of Survivin and COX-2 in gastric carcinoma suggest that they play important roles in the development and metastasis of gastric carcinoma.
