Deliberative democracy or agonistic pluralism——the criticism on deliberative democracy in procedure terms

Liberal democracy faces crisis and dilemma in the present era. Habermas has formulated deliberative democracy theory in terms of procedure to reconstruct the legitimacy of the liberal democracy. Mouffe, the representative of post Marxism, however, launched challenges and criticism against Habermas deliberative democracy theory, undermined two of the important theoretical presuppositions of the theory, and put forward an alternative model for deliberative democracy-agonistic pluralism.
