Abstract
Six sigma methodology aims at eliminating variations, stabilizing the process, gaining customer satisfaction, and improving performance dramatically, while lean philosophy focuses on reducing waste, optimizing the process, and cutting down the cost. The comparisons between them show that both lean philosophy and six sigma essentially aim at continuous improvement, and take many reciprocally complementary advantages. Lean six sigma, which is the integration of lean and six sigma, can create a competitive advantage surpassing other competitors.
