On the Legitimacy Crisis of Modern Chinese Poetry

Modern Chinese poetry is the outcome of the May Fourth New Cultural Movement.From its naissance onwards,its legitimacy has been questioned not only by a large number of modern Chinese poetry readers(including its critics who are also readers),but also by its practitioners.One of the important reasons for it is the poetic ideology crisis of the modern Chinese poetry.In our subconsciousness,the concept of the classical poetry,with its enormous massiness and powerful strength,has become the collective consciousness for us to perceive poetry and the world view for us to approach poetry.Till now the concept of new poetry has been appearing obscure,consequently making its critical activities more and more difficult.Therefore,communication and reconstruction of the concept of modern Chinese poetry has become an important aesthetic mission in the modern era.
