Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the efficacy ofendoscopic frontal sinus surgery for frontal sinusitis.METHODS Thirty eight patients with chronic frontalsinusitis were involved in this study. All of the patientswere diagnosed by CT before operation. The drainagepassage of f rontal sinus was judged by CT scan.RESULTS Obstruction of frontal sinus ostium wasfound in all cases. The frontal sinus ostia were obstructedby swelling mucosa, polypoid mucosa or over developedcells. Twenty two cases were cured,17 cases better and7 cases recurred after following up for 6 to 18 months.CONCLUSION Frontal sinus ostium obstruction (mostof the obstruction located in the ostiomeatal complexand frontal recess) is the main cause of the frontalsinusitis. Nasal endoscopic surgery is a good methodfor management of chronic frontal sinusitis with mini-mal trauma.
