Comprehensive Study of Regional Urbanization in Shaanxi Province Based on the Methods of Principal Component Analysis and Cluster Analysis

Urbanization is result of socioeconomic development,and more and more attention is paid to urbanization.It is necessary to evaluate urbanization development objectively and synthetically.An index system of urbanization assessment composed of 4 types and 18 indicators system,including population,economy,social culture,and regional environment is established.The methods of principal components analysis and cluster analysis are used,and 4 principal components are gained from the index system.Urbanization development of 10 cities and one normal area named Yangling in Shaanxi province is comprehensively analyzed and divided into 4 types.The gap and advantage of these types is pointed out and the corresponding countermeasures are put forward.These countermeasures are as follows:orientating the direction of urbanization appropriately;developing the strong points and avoiding the weak points;making full use of profitable policies under the Western Exploitation;comprehensively improving economic,social and environmental development.
