Britain's attitude toward Yuan Shi-kai's being emperor

After the movement of autocratic monarchy began,Britain thought it impossible to carry it on and wouldn't support it , she thought that it was after the end of the Europe war that the movement could go on. As the movement of autocratic monarchy went on quickly Britain implemented the double-faced policy:on the one hand,she gave warned Yuan Shi-kai with Japan, on the other hand, she prepared to acknowledge the autocratic monarchy as soon as possible. After Yuan Shi-kai's becoming emperor Britain asked to acknowledge Yuan Shi-kai's being emperor at once,then she kept on watching the situation,at last she supported to cancel the autocratic monarchy. Britain kept neutral between Yuan Shi-kai and the troops guarding country. After Yuan Shi-kai wasn't emperor,Britain kept on non-interference to China's matter.
