Abstract
Huang Zongxi's orthodoxy was formed under the influence of Ouyang Xiu.Huang Zongxi believed that the orthodox doctrine ended in the Yuan Dynasty and proposed to recompile A History of the Ming Dynasty to restore the orthodox doctrine of China.His orthodoxy also influenced his academic thinking which is revealed in his opposition to the writing of a Taoist history in A History of the Ming Dynasty and his antagonism against Buddhism.
