Abstract

Objective To study the nerve regeneration in sciatic nerve defect bridged by acellular nerve allografts and autografts in rats. Methods Acellular nerve allografts were prepared by chemical extraction and the model of sciatic nerve defect was established in rats.HE,Bielschowsky and Weil stainings were used to observe the nerve regeneration in sciatic nerve defect 12 weeks after transplantation under light microscopy. Results The density and diameter of myelinated fibers, the pass rate of regenerated fibers, the number and area percentage of microvessels in bridged body were obviously higher in autografts than in acellular nerve allografts in sciatic nerve regeneration. Conclusion Acellular nerve allografts could promote the regeneration of the sciatic nerve, but still not as good as autografts in nerve regeneration.
