Abstract
Objectives To investigate the clinical significance and pathological features of cervical atypical squamous cell of undermined signification(ASCUS) and the value of the liquid based cytology combined with human pap illomavirus(HPV) DNA test for high grade intraepithelial neoplasia.Method The liquid based cytology and the HPV DNA were tested in 1170 cases. The results were evaluated by the colposcopic biopsy which was considered as gold standard and were compared with the index of sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value and negative predictive value. Results The incidence of HPV infection was 21.3%.The detection rate of HPV in high grade intraepithelial neoplasia(72.5%) was significantly higher than that in low grade intraep ithelial neoplasia(23.5%,P0.05).The histology diagnosis was used as the criteria and AUCUS as an borderline, the sensitivity of the HCⅡ,liquid basedcytology and the combination of the two methods were 89%,92% and 100%,respectively;the specificity were 88.8%,92.1% and 83.1%,respectively;positive predictive value were 20.5%,23.5% and 21.1%,respectively;negative predictive value were 95.8%,96.7% and 99.4%,respectively.Conclusions The combined use of liquid based cytology and HPV DNA test is an effective screening method of cervical lesions. If there is cytological or clinical suspected abnormality, the colposcope examination is recommend to make further diagnosis, which can be contributed to improve the detection rate of cervical lesions.
