Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship between the level of non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(non-HDL-C) and the severity of coronary artery lesions. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 204 patients selected for coronary angiography, divided them into 4 groups according to the number of branches, determined total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) respectively, and measured the non-HDL-C and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C).Then we compared the levels of non-HDL-C and their correlation with the severity of coronary artery lesions among different groups. Results: The level of non-HDL-C was significantly higher in the coronary heart disease(CHD) group than in the control(P0.05),rising with the increased severity of coronary stenosis, the highest in the three-vessel group, and positively correlated with coronary artery lesions(r=0.332,P0.001).Conclusion: A positive correlation exists between the serum non-HDL-C level and the severity of coronary atherosclerosis.Serum non-HDL-C,as an independent risk factor, can be readily used as an indicator in the assessment of cardiovascular risk in coronary artery disease.
