English hegemony is a language hegemony of nation-state.The Great Britain and the United States,as two distinctive nation-state countries in the modern history, have not only helped set up English hegemony position in the international system, but also determined the evolution of its intension-a gradually deepened process from geographical platform language hegemony to system language hegemony and to soft power language hegemony. From an international relations view, language hegemony is the core of cultural hegemony and it is by nature arbitrary. English hegemony has led to a new world-wide social inequality. The concern and reaction for equality will be a very important agenda that English hegemony has to face.
