Clinical Analysis of Topiramate on Patients with Epilepsy

Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of topiramate on various epilepsy. Methods The clinical data of 50 patients with epilepsy who had underwent the treatment of topiramate, were retrospectively analyzed from January 2006 to January 2009. Results Complete control of seizures achieued in 22 patients (56.8%), seizure reduction of ≥ 75% in 8 patients (20.0%), seizure reduction of ≥ 50% in 10 patients (22.7%), ineffective in 10 patients (12.0%). The total effective rate was 88.0%. Conclusion Topiramate is effective in treating epilepsy, and complete control rate is more higher.
