Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To observe the topiramate monotherapy clinical efficacy and safety of various types of epilepsy.METHODS:A retrospective analysis in Jan.2007-Jan.2010 of 250 cases of epilepsy patients with topiramate monotherapy treatment was analyzed. The clinical efficacy and safety was statistics analysis.RESULTS:Complete control of seizures in 68 cases, accounting for 27.2%;64 cases were markedly improved(25.6%);56 cases were effective(22.4%),total efficiency was 75.2%.Memory loss(13.6%),weight loss(8.8%),nausea(7.2%),the language barrier(5.6%),ADRs of sleepiness(4.8%),dizziness(4.4%),low heat(3.2%),kidney stones(2.8%) were found in treatment.CONCLUSION:Topiramate monotherapy for epilepsy has significant effect, complete control rate, and low ADRs.
