Early diagnostic value of serum cystatin C in kidney injury induced by asphyxia neonatorum

Abstract

Objective To study the early diagnostic value of serum cystatin C(Cys-C) in kidney injury induced by asphyxia neonatorum.Methods According to Apgar score standards,forty asphyxial newborns were divided into mild asphyxia group(n=24) and severe asphyxia group(n= 16),meanwhile,sixteen healthy full-term newborns were chosed as the control group.The levels of Cys-C,serum creatinine(SCr) and blood urea nitrogen(BUN) were detected by turbidimetry method and glutamate dehydrogenase method.Results The serum levels of Cys-C,BUN and SCr in both mild asphyxia group and severe asphyxia group were higher than those in control group(P0.01),the level of Cys-C in severe asphyxia group was higher than that in mild asphyxia group(P0.05).The rates of abnormal level of Cys-C were higher than those of BUN and SCr in mild and severe asphyxia groups(P0.05).Conclusion The serum level of Cys-C can show the damage of kidney early,so it will be as one of the marks on diagnosing the kidney damage induced by asphyxia neonatorum.
