Abstract
Objective To analyze characteristics of the soft tissue profile in the early permanent dentition with Class Ⅱ、Ⅲ malocclusion. Furthermore, and to choose several soft tissue variables used as the indexes for assessing esthetics of facial profile. Methods Children with normal occlusions (N=50)、Class Ⅱ (N=50), or Class Ⅲ malocclusion (N=50) were examined cephalometrially with the lip at rest. Results Compared with the normal occlusion group, all measurements were statistically significant (P0.05), except 3 soft tissue variables in Class Ⅱ malocclusion group and 9 in the Class Ⅲ. Five indexes were selected through discriminant analysis. Conclusion B'Li-FH,NsLs-FH,LiNsPg',Li-E and CmSnLs were selected as five indexes which may represent the abnormality of facial profile of Class Ⅱ and Class Ⅲ malocclusion. LsNsLi、CmSnLs、NsLi-FH、Ls-E were selected as five indexes of malocclusion.
