Abstract

In order to compare the luminous efficiencies of metal halide lamp(dysprosium lamp) and high pressure sodium lamp, the luminous efficiencies of these two lighting sources under photopic and scotopic light levels are calculated, and the citopic luminous efficiencies of these two lighting sources are calculated based on the biologic effect produced by nerve cell on the human retina to light, citopic photometer system, and active formula of luminous efficiencies calculation. The results indicate that the photopic luminous efficiency of metal halide lamp is less than that of high pressure sodium lamp, the scotopic luminous efficiency of metal halide lamp is more than 2 times of that of high pressure sodium lamp, the citopic luminous efficiency of metal halide lamp is more than 3 times of that of high pressure sodium lamp.In the application of road lighting, metal halide lamp can save more energy than high pressure sodium lamp.
