Abstract
Objective The aim of study is to investigate the association between AT 1 A 1166 C polymorphism and renal damage with essential hypertension and to assess the prevalence of several risk factors of renal damage with hypertension.Methods 96 patients with essential hypertension in Han nationality Shanghai region were enrolled in the randomized study. A complete clinical history and blood samples were obtained for detecting their biochemical items and their genetype analysis. Results (1) Serum creatinine ( P 0.01) and creatinine clearance ( P 0.01) are associated with AT 1 A 1166 C polymorphism. (2) Age( P 0.01), diabetes mellitus ( P 0.01) and AT 1 A 1166 C polymorphism ( P 0.01) are independent risk factors in a multivariate logistic regression model.Conclusion AT 1 gene A 1166 C polymorphism is independent risk factor of creatinine clearance and is partly related to renal damage of essential hypertension.
