Abstract

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of bi-level positive airway pressure(BiPAP) ventilation in the emergency treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with typeⅡrespiratory failure.Method BiPAP ventilation was added to the conventional treatment and arterial blood gas were measured before, and 2~6 h,24 h after BiPAP ventilation, and vital signs in patients. Results BiPAP ventilation, the arterial partial pressure of oxygen(PaO2),arterial carbon dioxide tension(PaCO2),pH,RR and HR were significantly improved, blood pressure were not affected. Conclusion BiPAP ventilation in emergency treatment of COPD with typeⅡrespiratory failure is an effective mean of rescue.
