Expression of P-gp in gastric cancer and its relationship with biological characteristics and prognosis

Abstract
Objective To detect the expression of P-gp in gastric cancer and its relationship with biological characteristics and prognosis.Methods Immunohistochemical technique S-P methods were used to detect the expression of P-gp in 90 gastric cancer specimens underwent radical correction and 30 gastric tissues.Results The positive expression rates of P-gp in gastric cancer(71%) was higher than that in gastric tissues(23.3%).There was no relationship between expression of P-gp and patients' age,gender,depth of cancer infiltration and lymphatic metastasis(P0.05).But the expression of P-gp correlated significantly with differentiation degree and growth pattern(P0.01).There was no statistical difference between subgroups divided by the expression of P-gp(P0.05).Conclusion The expression of P-gp may correlate with some natural biological characteristics,and P-gp cannot serve as a valuable indicator of prognosis in gastric carcinoma underwent radical correction.
