Analysis and Nursing Intervention for Anxiety in Patients' Families in General Surgery Department

Objective To investigate the anxiety in patients' families in General Surgery Department and conduct nursing intervention to relieve their anxiety to improve the quality of nursing.Methods A survey was held on about 210 cases who were the families of the pa-tients treated in General Surgery Department from November 2008 to January 2009.Results Anxieties are prevalent in the patients' family members,of which the main reasons are fear of surgical risks and poor prognosis,high hospitalization costs,not taking good care of patients and some others.Conclusions General surgery greatly impacts the mental health of the families of patients,so the nursing staff should be prepared to take timely,adequate and effective intervention to reduce the anxiety in them in order to improve the quality of care and reduce the risk of nursing.
