Diagnosis of billiary cystadenocarcinoma with CT and MRI

Objective To summarize CT and MRI features of billiary cystadenocar- cinoma and to investigate CT and MRI value in their diagnosis. Methods CT and/or MRI findings of five patients with billiary cystadenocarcinoma confirmed by pathology were analyzed retrospectively. Results The five patients were female with the age of 58~76.The tumors were located in the left in three cases, right in one, and both sides in one.The five patients suffered from billiary cystadenocarcinoma with multilocular cyst, thick or thin cyst wall and internal septation. All fiver cases were revealed as liquid density/signal in CT and MR scans. Three cases had mural nodules and/or papillary excrescences, one had excrescences in the cystic lesions, one had bleeding in the cyst. After intravenous contrast injection, enhancement of the wall, septations and masses was seen in all CT and MR scans. Conclusion CT and MRI may show the character- istics of billiary cystadenocarcinoma, and they are very important and reliable methods in diagnosis of billiary cystadenocarcinoma.
