Abstract

The Old Man and the Sea not only reveals the antagonism about human beings with the nature, but inspects and expresses the conflict of their existence and destiny with environment from the tragic point of view. Hemingway evaluates and criticizes the human beings from humanitarianist point of view through his world outlook and contains his somber anxiety and philosophic thinking for the nature, human beings and society.
