Abstract

Five species of nematodes obtained from fishes in Fujian Province are described as new to science and Spinitectus batrachi Lal, 1966 from the intestine of Claras fuscus collected from Fujian is a new record to the Chinese nematode fauna. The diagnoses of the new species are as follows:1. Rhabdochona (Filochona) leptobotiae, sp. nov. (fig. 1)One male and 3 females were taken from the intestine of Leptobotia pellegrini collected from Chong'an County. This new species most resembles R. (Filochona) cotti (Gustafan, 1949), but differs in the smaller body size, 6.56×0.096 mm in male and 10.24 -11.60×0.132-0.160mm in female; the longer spieules (L. S. 0.52mm, R. S. 0.122mm); the shorter tail of female, 0.136-0.140mm; the genital pore situated at the hindbody, 3.68-3.72mm from posterior end; and the smaller size o?eggs (26-28×21-22μ), which are provided with long polar filments at both end.2. Ascarophis epinepheli, sp. nov. (fig. 2)One male and one female were obtained from the intestine of Epinephelus awoara collected from Pingtan County. This new species most resembles A. capelenus Nikolaeva et Naidenova, 1964, but differs in having shorter spicules (L. S. 0.175mm, R. S. 0.068 mm), longer tail in male (0.087mm),smaller body in female (5.28×0.045mm), and in having a terminal spike in female.3. Prosungulonema parvulus, sp. nov. (fig. 3)One male and 3 females were obtained from the intestine of Pseudobagrus fulvidra-co, Opsariichthys bidens and Leptobotia pellegrini collected from Shunchang County. This species most resembles P. sinipercae (Dogiel et Aehmerov, 1959), but differs in the smaller body size and the shorter esophagus and tail. Body 9.6×0.128 mm vs. 17.71-19.20×0.20-0.26 mm, esophagus 1.038 mm vs. 1.40-1.87mm, and tail 0.192mm vs.0.26 -0.35mm long in male. Body 8.8-12.4×0.192-0.288mm vs. 24.31-28.0×0.21-0.41 mm, esophagus 0.896-1.182 mm vs. 1.51-2.7 mm, and tail 0.208-0.288 mm vs. 0.35-0.53 mm long in female.Paraseuratoides, gen. nov.Body slender, filiform, cuticle smooth. Cephalic extremity bluntly rounded, with six head papilke. Buecal cavity small, toothless. Esophagus not clearly divided into a muscular and a museulo-glandular portion, cervical papillae present. Male: tail tapered to a sharp point, with short narrow caudal alae, supported by four pairs of pedunculate preanal papillae and seven pairs of peduneulate postanal papillae; Spicules unequal; gubernaculum present. Female: tail tapered, with a fine spike, vulva in posterior half of body, uterus tubes opposed. Parasitic in intestine of freshwater fishes. This new genus Paraseuratoides is cclosely related to Paraseuratum Johnston et Ma-wson, 1940, but differs from the latter mainly in having a small and toothless buccal cavity; 11 pairs of anal peduneulated papillae, of which 4 pairs are preanal and 7 pairs postanal; unequal spicules; the tail of female with a fine spike, and the vulva situated at the posterior of the body.Type-species: Parasekuratoides acuminicauda, sp. nov.4. Paraseuratoides acuminicauda, gen. et sp. nov. (fig. 4)Three males and one female were obtained from the intestine of Monopterus albus collected from Puzhou City. Body size 6.14×0.128mm in female, 4.08-5.20×0.112-0.122 mm in male. Tail of male pointed, with narrow caudal alae; spicules unequal in length, the longer one 0.228-0.230 mm and the short 0.077-0.080 mm in length. Eggs 80 -86×52-54μ in size.5. Skrjabinocapillaria giganteus, sp. nov. (fig. 5) Three males and 4 females were obtained from the intestine of Phoxinus lagowshiicollected from Pingnan County. This species di'ffers from 8. barken (Muiler et Van Cleave, 1932) and S. elopiichthydis Wang, 1982. the two hitherto known members in he genus, in the larger body size, 8.24-8.80×0.060-0.064mm in male, 17.8-208×0,090-0.096 mm in female, the ratio of anterior to posterior portion being 1:1.1 in male and 1:2.2 in female, and in the smaller size of ova (54-58×20-22μ).All the type specimens are deposited in the Parasitogical Research Laboratory, Fu-jian Teachers' University.
