Abstract

Objective:To investigate the changes of pulse wave velocity(PWV) in old patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS).Methods:Hundred and forty-two hospitalized patients were divided into ACS group and normal control group.Total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),fasting blood glucose(FBG),blood pressure, body mass index(BMI) and PWV were measured.Cluster-stratification analysis was used to explore the underlying differences among each tertile of any risk factors. Results:The detection rate of PWV below 1550cm/s was significantly lower in ACS group than that in control group, while PWV was 1550cm/s or higher the detection rate was higher than that in control group(P0.01).PWV is an relatively independent risk factor for ACS.Conclusions:PWV may provide reliable information in preventing and diagnosing cardiovascular disease.
