Abstract

Data links are an important tactical communication means. They can provide effective, reliable data transmission. They are successfully applied to the communication between fleets and fighters. To meet the modern war need, the United States Navy has been developing link 4A, link 11 and link 16 with the link 4A being the earliest data link developed, which is still applied in United States Navy tactical communication. The equipment composition of United State Naval data link 4A platform, communication mode, standard and improvement forms of link 4A are introduced in this paper.
