Equipment and Development of the Data Links in the United States Army

Abstract

Data link is one of the most important means by which the USA and its allied forces can realize information predominance.At present,the USA has formed a comparative maturity data communication system which has multi-frequency segment,multi-function and its single unite to system.It currently represents the international standards and the trend of development of data link equipment and technology.The paper introduces tactical digital information links which used in the current weapon system and command control platforms of the USA,including Link-11,Link-4A,Link-4C,Link-16,Link-22,satellite tactical digital information link and some other special data links.Then,the paper analyzes these data links~′ equipment,main function,technical characteristics and achieved technical targets.In the end,the paper discusses the future development of data links in the USA Army,Navy and Air Force.
