Xunzi’s Breakthrough on Confucian Tradition

Xunzi accepted the tradition of Confucian on ceremonies and morality and cultivation. Based on the theory of human nature as evil,he insisted on a combination of ceremonies and laws,and accepted the thoughts of measures and structures to perfect his thought of neishen-waiwang (sage inside and king outside). He revised the idea of Confucius and Mencius on religious moral awe to external limit by objective norms.
