Phacoemulsification for the treatment of angle-closure glaucoma with co-existing cataract glaucoma

Objective To evaluate the clinical outcomes of phacoemulsification and aspiration in eyes with angle-closure glaucoma and co-existing cataract.Methods 23 cases(25 eyes)with angle-closure glaucoma and co-existing cataract whose IOP can be controlled by local eye-dropping were preformed by phacoemulsification and aspiration.The preoperative and postoperative visual acuity,intraocular pressure,anterior chamber angle and depth of anterior chamber were examined.The follwoing-up was 6 months.Results The IOP was fall obviously after operation(P0.001).The anterior chamber angle became wider or open again and the visual acuity improved as well.Conclusions Phacoemulsification can be an effective choice in treating angle-closure glaucoma with co-existing cataract.Its adaption should be grasped.
