Abstract
Objective To study the clinical outcomes of treatment for fractures of distal radius with T shape plate. Methods 28 cases of intra-articular distal radial fractures were treated with open reduction and internal fixation. They were classified into B and C types according to AO classification. After anatomical reduction, the fractures were fixed with oblique T or T shape plates. Results All the patients were followed up for 4~18 months with an average of 12 months. Union was obtained in all the patients. According to postoperative X-ray images and improved Shea evaluation score, the results were excellent in 21 cases, good in 5 and fair in 2, the excellent and good rate was 93%. Conclusions T shape plate can provide satisfactory outcome for treatments of fractures of distal radius. For patients with osteoporosis and unstable fractures of the distal radius, it can restore the reduced fragment position and facilitate early postoperative rehabititation.
