Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of moxibustion on blood fat and sugar in hyperlipemia patients.Method Hyperlipemia patients were enrolled as subjects.Gentle moxibustion was performed on points Shenque(CV8) and bilateral Zusanli(ST36).Fasting blood glucose(FBG),triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),high density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C) were measured in the patients before and after treatment. The course of treatment consisted of 12 weeks.Result After treatment,FBG,TC and LDL-C decreased(P0.01) and TG decreased(P0.05).There was no statistically significant pre-/post-treatment difference in HDL-C(P0.05).Conclusion Moxibustion can improve not only blood lipid metabolism but also glucose metabolism in the treatment of hyperlipemia patients.
