Abstract
In the perspective of western canon researches, this paper studies the ancient Chinese classics. It investigates into some important issues of Chinese classics, such as classic formation, classic quality, classic types and classic influences, which show that the ancient Chinese classics have a long history and various practices, and should have an important position in Chinese literary history. In addition, based on the broader context of modern studies, this paper regards the ancient Chinese classics as one of the classical resources to balance the tension between the traditional world and the modern one.
