Abstract

After the long glass fiber(LGF)was surface treated in the silane coupling agent KH550 by self-made device, the polyamide66/long glass fiber composites were prepared by melting blending method. The thermal expansion curves of glass fiber reinforced polyamide 66 composites were recorded by microcomputer automatic thermal expansion coefficient locator, and then the influence of contents of glass fiber and temperature on the coefficients of thermal expansion(CTE)of composites was analyzed. The results revealed that as the contents of glass fiber increased, the CTE of composites decreased, even the biggest was reduced by 74.2%;with increasing temperature, the CTE of composites increased firstly, then decreased to equilibrium and discontinuity temperature was near 37 ℃.Then measured the mechanical properties of composite. The results showed that the tensile strength, bending strength and notched impact strength of composites were greatly raised largely even up to 173%,186%and 283%,respectively,as the contents of glass fiber increased. The glass fiber embedded in PA66 and formed a good interface bonding with PA66 through SEM.
