Treatment of the complications of polyacrylamide hydrogel injection for augmentation mammaplasty

Objective To find the best method to deal with the postoperative complications of augmentation mammaplasty by injecting polyacrylamide hydrogel and the indication of implanting at the same time.Methods MRI and pathologic examinations were made to 63 patients with the serious postoperative complications of augmentation mammaplasty by injecting polyacrylamide hydrogel.Then,on visualized removed the polyacrylamide hydrogel,the pathologic tissue and irrigation of the cavity by operation.The clinical data were analyzed and the experience in the treatment of the complications was summarized.Results All patients were satisfied with the result of the operation.MRI examination showed that no visible polyacrylamide hydrogel remained in the cavity.41 cases were implanted prosthesis and the result was well.Conclusion Polyacrylamide hydrogel injection for augmentation mammaplasty could do serious result to woman.MRI was the best examination against it.The best therapy for the complications of polyacrylamide hydrogel injection was orphotic removing of the polyacrylamide hydrogel and the pathologic tissue and irrigation of the cavity.
