Abstract
The microstructure and properties of high manganese steel compressed with different deformation degree and rate by static compression test were studied. The results show that work hardening phenomenon of high manganese steel obviously appeared after deformation,The surface hardness improved gradually as deformation degree and rate elevating and the effect of deformation degree was more notable. The microstructure of compressed high manganese steel consisted of austenite and needle-type martensite and the proportion of martensite increased as deformation degree and rate elevating. The mechanism of work hardening of high manganese steel was analyzed.
