Abstract
Aim To detect the specific antibodies against the SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV) in the sera of patients with SARS.Method IgM and IgG antibodies against the SARS-CoV in the sera of clinically diagnosed, suspected and medically observed cases and other non-SARS and healthy contrast were detected by the indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Results (1) All 3 clinically diagnosed cases were IgG positive,2 were IgM positive,2 paired sera (acute stage and convalescent stage) showed ≥4 fold rises in IgG.(2) 1 suspected case were positive for both IgM and IgG,and the paired sera showed 4 fold rises in IgG.(3) 11 medically observed cases were negative for both IgM and IgG.(4) None of the 50 samples from non-SARS and healthy contrast samples showed IgG positive. Conclusion Indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assay can be used for the laboratory diagnosis of SARS and further clinic diagnosis checking of SARS.
