Abstract
In a survey reported in this paper, Bactrocera dorsalis Hendel, a major insect pest attacking mango, pear, peach, chili and cucumber in Yunnan, was found to have 5 generations in a year in Hekou and 6 generations in Ruili. Its egg stage, larval stage and pupal stage lasted for 2, 8~11 and 8~9 days, respectively, and its mature larvae and pupae over-wintered beneath the soil surface. The adults liked to eat ripe mango fruit and orange. According to the theory of climate similarity, this pest was identified to be adaptable to the ecological conditions of the whole province of Yunnan except the 8 counties in its northwestern region.
