Abstract

The time structure of insect communities in plum orchard was measured using three kinds of indices of species, including diversity, evenness and dominance. The results showed that species number, diversity indices, and evenness increased, and the dominant species varied over time. The principal component analysis showed the leaf-eating insect and the predacious insect played important roles in the insect community. The sap-sucking insect and the predacious insect had the same development trend with time course. Using cluster and two-dimensional ordinal analysis, and based on resembling the coefficients it was found that the community in December, November, October and September was the most similar, then in April, May, June and July, next in March, and finally in August.
