Exploration of optimal surgery timing and technique on traumatic cataract

Ojective:To study the curative effect and the surgical methods with intraocular lens(IOL)implantation for case of traumatic cataract.Methods:65 cases(65 eyes)of traumatic cataract,39 eyes had been implanted PC IOL after 3 to 24 hours of sewing up the wound and cataract extraction,the other 26 eyes received secondary IOL implantation after more than 2 months to 10 years.Results:The out of blind rate was 94.87% and the out of incomplete rate was 66.67% for the primary implantation.The out of blind rate was 96.15% and the out of incomplete rate was 69.23% for the secondary implantation.There was no significant difference between them(P0.05).The postoperative complications included exudative membrane of IOL and opacity of post capsula.There was significant difference between them(P0.05).No serious complication was found in all the 65 cases.Conclusion:There are not notable difference in implantation between the primary and the secondary corrective visual acuity of traumatic cataract.We should try the primary implantation in proper time.
